Q: How much do classes cost?
The Gold Coast Gnostic Society is a non-profit organisation. For First Chamber (Introductory Level) students, we recommend a weekly contribution of $10. All funds go to supporting the costs of running the centre, courses, hall hire, etc. It also allows for other activities to be carried out beyond the scope of the classes (e.g. retreats). Our aim is not profit, but to share Gnosis with anyone who is interested, regardless of race, religion, sex, occupation or wealth.
Q: What is the format of the classes?
Most classes go from 1.5 hours to 2 hours, with each class consisting of a talk and meditation practice. The introductory course is welcome to all for the first few months.
Since the classes and practices build on each other, consistent weekly attendance is expected for those who decide to continue with the classes. If you decide you do not want to continue with the classes at any point in time, you are free to do so with no further obligations. So if we do not hear from you, you will not hear from us.
Q: How do we begin practicing gnosis?
Gnosis is typically begun through reading and understanding the Gnostic teachings, followed by the application of practices such as meditation, self-observation, and self-remembering in daily life. Joining a Gnostic group is extremely beneficial in developing a centre of gravity around these works.
Q: How does gnosis relate to religion?
Gnosis respects all spiritual traditions and sees them as different paths. Gnosis integrates elements from various world religions, recognising the shared wisdom and common ultimate goal of self-realisation.
